happy and not

Today was sunday. We went to church, the Paris ward; where they have an english sunday school and they also translate sacrament meeting for you and play it on a nice tv in the other room. It's so nice. We had a firedrill today during sunday school-that's new, I don't think I've ever done a fire drill at church. No wait I change my mind I have. But it was pretty funny.
Afterwards a couple of us went to Montmarte for a Paris Walk. If any of you don't know what Montmarte is you should definitely come to Paris and see for yourself. I love it out there, its so fun and lively. It's where the sacre coeur is, and its the highest point in Paris, its beautiful.
We also saw;
  • Van Gogh's home
  • Toulouse Lautrec's home
  • The oldest house in Montmarte
  • The first cabaret in Montmarte
  • more antique markets
  • Moulin Rouge
  • "I love you" wall
When we were walking towards the sacre coeur Annie stopped to take a picture of a store called "my cousin Paul" but in french, [she has a cousin named Paul]. I turned to look and it was a store that was on the ohhappyday blog! With these tiny balls that you string lights in. They are so so cool and I told the girls about them before, I'm so happy we just randomly stumbled upon them.{don't you just want every color! See the hanging strings to the left? That's what you do with these. I cannot wait to buy some for my apartment}
Sight-wise and success-wise the day was amazing. Loved Montmarte.
Feet-wise and energy-wise the day was horrible.
I forgot to bring extra shoes to change into after church today because we were trying to catch a bus, {the metro has been closed on sunday and we have to take a bus} so I wore large heels all day long. I came home and passed out from 7-9:30 pm. Sorry Katherine!

So a couple things that made my day;
This view. Walking out of a truly amazing cathedral to feast my eyes upon Paris. What an incredible place. + there was a group of people singing right at the steps, love that.
Moulin Rouge - gotta love it -
This was the very end of our walk, so that made me way happy. Plus we met up with Anna and Tiffany then got to sit on the metro for a little while, a nice break from walking for hours.
"I love You" wall. This wall was in the Place d'Abbasses. And it says i love you in 300 different languages. We hung around here for a while just taking pictures and sitting trying to find all the different languages we knew. Spanish, Italian, French, English.
It was way cute
Je t'aime

And the stuff that didn't;
These letters are everywhere. And by everywhere I mean in America too. The antique market right outside the metro today was so tempting. I wanted this so badly. I was willing to pay like 2 euro or so for each of these, reasonable right? I ask the lady "combien ca coute?" and she said 42. Excuse me whaaat? FORTY-two euros. I left this cute display for someone else to buy.
These beauties. Let me remind you; Paris is filled with cobble-stone streets &lots and lots of hills. Along with about 300 hundred stairs just to get OUt of the metro. Me and my shoes had just an amazing time together today.

This hill. Never again. We walked all the way down it, to see the oldest house in Montmarte and then the first cabaret and then "the maison rose" - the pink house - that is a restaurant where an artist used to live and also it was one of picasso's favorite places. We did all that then turned the page in our walks book to read "now turn around and walk back up the hill." Okay are you kidding? Remember I'm still wearing my shoes.

p.s.
I need some cute halloween treat ideas. Help me out
